Life coaches abound, but how many do you know who spend several thousand dollars on their education and training? Or who have a weekly paid column in one of the most prestigious newspapers in the country?
Meghan Leahy is a parenting coach (and total spitfire – there are no dull moments during this episode). She’s at a totally relatable stage in her business where everything isn’t perfect, but despite hiccups, Meghan sticks to her guns and her theories to help struggling parents finally get some sanity.
In this episode you’ll hear:
–What made us lose our instincts as parents over various generations (and why Meghan has a job).
–The danger of experts in anything that isn’t a hard science.
–Why Meghan invested $25K in her business when she was just starting out (and why I did pretty much the opposite).
–The exact words Meghan recommends my husband use (listen up, Ernesto!) when he needs me to do something I may not want to do.
–What she’ll do to mitigate her daughter’s reaction to some bad news Meghan will have to deliver.
–Details on Meghan’s packages and why she structures it this way.
–How Meghan grew a Facebook page that actually lands her clients and brings in real money WITHOUT ads.
–The one tool that has blown Meghan away and freed up a ton of time for her assistant to cover even more tasks for her.
–The steps Meghan took to land her weekly Washington Post column, and how that column has impacted her business’s bottom line.
–Why we can never forgot the nastiest things people to say to us (backed by science).

Thanks for listening! Time to go get yourself paid. :)
CONGRATS! And as someone who is planning on getting pregnant soon I appreciate that you grilled her. I haven’t listened yet but I will. Love your podcast <3
Thank you so much, Hannah! It was a really enlightening conversation. And you gotta check out Meghan’s FB page – I have NEVER seen such engagement like she has!
I had to stop the podcast 25 minutes in but I CANNOT wait to return to this one. As a new mom and aspiring life coach, this episode speaks to me on so many levels. Your interviews are always spot-on. I don’t often take the time to comment on podcast landing pages, but in a cluttered podcast library, yours is the only podcast that I consistently listen to every week so that I am never behind! Thanks for all of the honest truths that you uncover in your episodes and for just being so curious! I love it! (also congrats! There are so many tips I could share, but I don’t want to overwhelm you. As Meghan said – it’s an adventure. Enjoy the ride)
Wow, thank you SO much for such kind words, Katelyn!! I’m even happier now that I was able to talk to a parenting coach since it seems like our conversation has really resonated with a lot of people. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and say hi!!
I knew I was gonna love this interview at “this is a weird branch of the already weird thing coaching” hahaha…. Followed by “no huff post for me!!” As a new mother and online business owner I totally loved and related to so much of this interview. I usually forward this podcast to my biz friends but this one is also going to all my mom peeps. Really touched on so many things I am grappling with regarding trusting my instincts in the age of “parenting experts” and surprising feeling of isolation I have felt since becoming a mother. Thanks for another awesome episode!
Thank YOU for listening and for sharing the episodes, Nicole! It means the world to me, really. It’s interesting about the instincts thing: I click on every single post in my FB newsfeed that’s even slightly related to having kids. Am I running my instincts before I even have a chance to use them?
And then gems like this one come along, which just makes me feel great about everything: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ava-neyer/i-read-all-the-baby-sleep-advice-books_b_3143253.html :D
